Name: Matthew Mowery
Graduation Year and Major: 2004, HRIM
Occupation: Banquet Manager, Westin New York at Times Square
Neighborhood/Location: Forest Hills/Kew Gardens, Queens
How long have you lived here? Since graduating, 6 years
How often do you go back to PSU and what do you miss most? I try
to make it back for at least Blue and White and 2-3 good games (night
ones are the best). I really miss watching the games in the student
section and passing around the Lion after his one armed push-ups. Also
tailgating. Where else can you play beer pong with all of your best
friends in a field and then watch the game in the 3rd largest stadium
in the WORLD??
Who is your favorite Penn Stater, past or present? In the past
probably Jack Ham '71 and Franco Harris '72, who both had 12 seasons
with the Steelers winning 4 Super Bowls. That's when football was
football and cred to my father who played with Ham in High School.
Presently, I would say my sister who really taught me the ropes at Penn
State and instilled in me, with my father's help, I had no choice but
to bleed blue.
The Corner Room or The Tavern? HANDS
DOWN The Tavern! I worked there for several years and they were my
second family. I also loved having the employee fridge stocked with
cans of Yuengling for after the shift.
Peach Paterno or Black Cow? Oooo... Tough one... I would have to say Peachy Paterno and not because it's Bill Clinton's favorite.
It's a random Wednesday night and you are out and about. Where are you and what are you doing?
In school I would probably be at Cafe 210 or The G-Man, after the
library of course. Now, I like interesting eateries and lounges like
the Breslin, Pravda, or Employees Only. NYC is the east coast mecca
for foodies and lovers of everything new and old about food and
beverage. But you still can’t beat $2 Teas at the Café! WE ARE!!
