Inspired by our HOPE for a
cure, Penn State alumni in the greater New York City area created
The Hope Gala in 2008 to support Penn State Dance Marathon
(THON)-the world's largest student-run philanthropy. THON has raised
more than $69 million to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn
State Children's Hospital and is supported year-round by students
and alumni alike, who have joined together to raise funds and
awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer.

About THON
The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) is the largest
student-run philanthropy in the world, with all proceeds benefiting
The Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer, at the Hershey
Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. After a year-round
fundraising effort by the students of all Penn State campuses, THON
culminates in a 46 hour no-sitting, no-sleep Dance Marathon in the
Bryce Jordan Center.
Since 1977, the
students of THON have nearly $70 million dollars and have helped
thousands of children and families in their fight against pediatric
cancer. Last year alone, THON raised almost $8 million dollars for
the Four Diamond's Fund, supporting its mission to conquer childhood
cancer. New York area alumni and friends will now have the
opportunity to play a role in what has become one of Penn State 's
greatest and most unifying traditions.
