Event Details

When: All sessions will take place from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PMish

Session 7: Summer Wines for a Picnic - COMPLETE

When: Thursday May 13, 2021

Summary: What makes a great picnic wine?  Three things, off the bat:  (i) It should go with many types of food, from salads, to chicken to brownies; (ii) it should be relatively low alcohol and easy drinking, to appeal to lots of people (added bonus of no waste!); and (iii) most importantly, it should be inexpensive in case it spills!!  There may be no crying over spilt milk, but crying over spilt wine is acceptable (unless there is a wine shop nearby your picnic spot!). We'll be tasting 3 wines that meet this criteria and we're going to talk about why boxed wines are en vogue and no longer a faux pas!

Session 8: South African Wines - COMPLETE

When: Tuesday, June 15, 2021

Summary: Dating back to 1659, South African wines have a long and varied history.  And like most of the country's industries, wine ties back to politics.  We are going to taste some fun things and learn about the beautiful landscapes and varied winemaking techniques.

Session 9: Wines from Uncommon Areas

When: Thursday, July 22, 2021

Summary: Grapes are grown all over the world and wine is made in all 50 states!  Whether all of it is tasty is another question.  But we've found a few from areas that may surprise you!  Not a bad bottle in the bunch, we'll touch upon how the wine industry is both local and global, and how climate change is affecting what we'll be drinking in 5+ years

How to Purchase the Wine

Option 1: Have the wine shipped to your house by purchasing them directly from Susan at a discounted rate with 5% of the proceeds going to the Michael D. Ferugio Scholarship Fund.  Details on how to purchase will be included in your confirmation e-mail.  (Please Note: Wines must be purchased by the Friday before the event in order to allow enough time to ship the wines)

Option 2: Prior to the event, a list of wines that will be discussed will be sent out to attendees.  These wines will be commonly available from your local liquor store, but Susan will speak about the wine in generalities so you also don't need to worry about purchasing the exact wine!

Per Class: Members: $5 | Non-Members: $10
