Interested in getting more involved in the PSU NYC Chapter? We're currently looking for volunteers for all of our committees and would love your help!

Are you looking to connect with other Penn Staters here in NYC? The local Chapter of the Alumni Association is a great way to give back to our alma mater and meet fellow Nittany Lions.

Career Development & Networking
The Career Development & Networking Committee provides opportunities for professional development and networking to Chapter members and the local Penn State Alumni Community. The Committee organizes and hosts continuing educational and networking opportunities.
 
How You Would Help
Identify opportunities for career development and networking events, plan and execute those events, assist in planning "Coffee & Contacts" event, work with other local Penn State groups to plan joint activities (e.g., Women's Professional Networking group, Lions on Wall Street), help maintain the Chapter's Business Directory of local Penn Staters.

Communications
The Communications Committee is responsible for promoting the events of the Chapter and informing the public of notable Penn State achievements and accomplishments of its students, faculty and alumni. The Committee develops and distributes the Chapter's weekly newsletter, manages the Chapter listserv notifications, and maintains the Chapter website and social media activities. 
 
How You Would Help
Assist with maintenance of the website and social media accounts, develop original content for website and newsletters, assist committee chairs with promotion and marketing of events, attend Chapter events as "Historian"

Community Service
The Community Service Committee serves as a liaison between the Chapter and local nonprofit community service organizations, providing Chapter members an opportunity to assist in community projects. 
 
How You Would Help
Assist in planning Chapter's annual community service activities, identify new opportunities for community service partnerships and activities, plan additional community service activities

Membership
The Membership Committee shall pursue the recruitment and maintenance of members of the Chapter and obtain benefits for the Chapter membership.  The Membership Committee shall devise ways to encourage area Alumni to participate in Chapter activities, and to become members of the Chapter and the Alumni Association.  
 
How You Would Help
Attend Chapter events as representative from Membership Committee and encourage new member sign-ups, identify opportunities for Chapter Member benefits, assist in communication re: membership renewals and overall membership drives

Philanthropy
The Philanthropy Committee’s mission is to support and grow our endowed scholarship (the Michael D. Ferugio Scholarship Fund), manage local fundraising events for THON, and enhance the efforts of Penn State's Office of University Development and the Nittany Lion Club. The Philanthropy Committee also works closely with the Hope Gala committee to support the efforts of this important event.
 
How You Would Help
Assist with current fundraising efforts (e.g., t-shirt sales) develop additional ideas for fundraising, coordinate with other Committees to incorporate fundraising into Chapter events

Social
The Social committee organizes and hosts the Chapter's football viewing parties, happy hours, and special events. 
 
How You Would Help
Act as Chapter representative at upcoming football viewing parties and happy hours, help identify locations for future social events, assist in planning and executing upcoming events (e.g., Frozen Apple happy hour, annual meeting, etc.)

Sports
The Sports Committee identifies opportunities for team sport participation of Chapter members and friends of the Chapter.
 
How You Would Help
Assist with organization and management of existing sports teams, identify additional opportunities for team sports, act as team captain
