2023 PSU NYC Annual Celebration & Networking Event

All local Penn Staters (and friends of the University) are invited to join us on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at

 6pm for the Penn State NYC Annual Celebration / Networking Event! The NYC Chapter Board of Directors is thrilled to announce Susan Robinson as our guest speaker this year! Susan is a business leader, inspirational speaker, blogger, entrepreneur TED Resident, and, of course, a fellow Penn Stater!

 

This year's format for the Annual Meeting is different from years past.

.

  • Location - It will be in the Community Classrooms at Pier 57 in Cheslea, which has beautiful views of the Hudson River!
  • Event - 
    • The Annual Meeting will be less formal than years past and there will be no cost to attend the meeting.
    • After the Annual Meeting, the Chapter invites attendees to join them at Brass Monkey for a Networking Event from 7:15 PM - 9:15 PM has been organized for $25 for members of the Penn State Alumni Association ($30 if you are not a member)
    • You can come to any part(s) of the event you'd like to!

Annual Celebration (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Pier 57)

 

Our President, Kevin Cei, who will provide an update on the state of the New York City Chapter. We will celebrate the many accomplishments of the Chapter over the past year and give a preview of what's to come! After Kevin's remarks our guest speaker, Susan Robinson, will take the stage and tell her story which is sure to make you Penn State proud! The meeting will wrap up with some trivia, Penn State style!

 

Soft drinks and snacks will be served at the meeting.

* If necessary, an election for the Penn State NYC Executive Board will also be held


Networking Event (7:15 PM - 9:15 PM at Brass Monkey)

 

After the Annual Celebration has concluded, the Penn State NYC Chapter has arranged to have a Networking Event / Happy Hour at a venue ~5 minutes walk away where there will be a two hour open bar (draft beer & wine) and appetizers provided as part of the admission cost. 

Note: You must be 21 years of age and show ID at the door of the venue to be admitted

Susan Robinson

Susan’s speaking style is high energy, interactive, inspirational and thought-provoking. Exemplified by her TED Talk with 1.5M+ views, “How I fail at being disabled,” Susan humorously weaves a meaningful narrative and flips generally-accepted ideas upside down to uncover, challenge and redefine possibility. In her role as business advisor, Susan partners with senior and executive leaders on enterprise-wide issues. Her team-oriented approach draws the best out of others, ensuring success for all. Her previous projects include leadership workshops for top talent; competitive differentiators and growth potential assessments; and strategy, horizon and transformation planning. Susan’s results have included 4x-7x revenue increases, accessibility policies and procedures development, enhanced process efficiencies, new program launches and executive leadership transitions.

   

Susan is an Executive Board Member of the Penn State Alumni Association's Alumni Council, on the Advisory Board of the New York City Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, and a Board Member of both the New York State Preferred Source Program for People Who Are Blind and InTandem Cycling. She received her Master of Public Administration, specializing in Health Policy and Management, from New York University, Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service; and her Bachelor of Science, Health Policy and Administration, with minors in Business and Economics, from The Pennsylvania State University.

Matt Eichelberger

  

Matt is the Director of Volunteer Engagement at the Penn State Alumni Association. He leads the strategy and development of more than 275 volunteer affiliate groups alongside six staff partners working to further engage Penn Staters with their alma mater.

A 2007 Journalism graduate of the Bellisario College of Communications, Matt spent 10 years working at the American Cancer Society in grassroots event fundraising, internal communications, and executive communications roles. He then returned to Penn State in a fundraising role for the Bellisario College of Communications before joining the Penn State Alumni Association to partner on the strategy for alumni engagement in all of Penn State’s colleges and campuses as well as the Association’s many awards programs.
